I agree Doylem - everyone would draw the comedy line in a different place so we shouldn't draw one at all, neither should anyone criticise when someone crosses yours.
The biggest target here I believe is the media having all but hung the landlord and the police saying nothing to stop them. Crass in the extreme.

Yes, yes, but the point wasn't whether or not you like to laugh at murdered women, it was whether you honestly think that what you write will get used on the site.
The purpose of the subs board is not as a joke sharing portal for you and your friends but is a place to put the funny writing you want to see published on the site proper.
Unfortunately, there are too many people using this site in place of an active social life rather than as a place to hone their writing talent.

Well, I joined the site 'cos I had a case of writer's block, and it seemed a good way to 'loosen up'. Really, does it matter why people write stuff here? I'm trying to be polite (and it's a bit of a strain).
I lived in Leeds when the Yorkshire Ripper was 'operating'. The police only really got interested when the Ripper started killing 'innocent' women (their exact words). As long as the Ripper was killing prostitutes, the police attitude was indifference; he was doing their work for them.
The murders themselves were gruesome, uniformly tragic and no laughing matter. But the attitudes that surrounded them were bizarre and inconsistent. Plenty of room for satirical comment, I feel... as are some of the attitudes on display following the Bristol murder.

Some sympathy for both sides here.
True, it isn't meant to be a joke-sharing site, regardless of taste issues, but how are people, especially newcomers, ever going to hone their skills other than by trying stuff out? I myself do actually only put on what I think might have a chance and I suppose I qualify as one of the big beasts around here now, but even so I have no idea what will or won't make it.
Most of the 'humour' on this subject was about the media's attempt to lynch a suspect, not the murder itself. If your taste runs to that, try Sickipedia.

Going to have to say keep on posting but try to make it funny - which so far has severely lacking from any of the posts around this topic... attacks on the media's overblown, quick to judge, and poisonous reaction to this and other murders may be fair game but don't think that straying into using the sensitivity of this case gives you some kind of edge-y fine line style black humour because as has been shown so far it isn't working for you or anyone. Not to say that there couldn't be good homuor just maybe spend more time honing that joke rather than typing the first thing that comes out of your busy fingers... is all.
