Earlier today Scotland’s first minister was highly critical of the general public when he discovered two people he was talking to at a constituency surgery turned out to be constituents rather than Murdoch Corp reporters. “I spent ages explaining about how powerful I am and how even the US is now scared of me. Then next day I even went and purchased the paper and found nothing. Investigations carried out a public expense then discovered that these two claiming to be “constituents” were in fact constituents and I had wasted my time.
“It brings the new reporting industry into disrepute when they cannot even be bothered to send undercover reporters to minor events.”
However, later Mr Salmond did reveal that he had become suspicious when neither of the pair asked him any questions. “I should have realised that, even though I was telling them blatant lies, they never picked up on any of them and completely failed to notice when I distorted the historical record to my advantage”.
The Murdoch press declined to be interviewed but did issue an apology promising that next time they would make more effort.
