With millions of people setting out today, to spend Christmas with uncherished relatives, Pete Brown of the AA offers a few, mildly patronising, words of advice. “Drive on the road. Don’t drive along railway lines. Don’t park in the canal. Drive within your limitations; don’t just pile into the guy in front. Give yourself more time; set off a week early. Pack spare clothes, blankets, a hot beverage in a flask, a packet of Werthers Originals, shovel, ice axe, primus stove. In the worst case scenario you may have to eat one another; give some thought to this beforehand. Don’t drink and drink. You’ll need both hands free to gesticulate at other drivers, so get tanked up before you start. Merry Christmas everyone!”...
Drive carefully, folks, it’s icy out there...
