A senior Tory MP has admitted that he is not gay and in fact has a wife and three children in Berkshire.
Junior minister Ben Overmore made the admission in an interview with a Sunday newspaper, saying he was proud to be a heterosexual Conservative.
Mr Overmore said: 'I don't think many of my fellow MPs will be at all surprised - it's been the worst-kept secret around the (Westminster) village for a few years now.'
In his interview, the MP for Clapham said he'd spent too long hiding pictures of his wife and children whenever he held meetings in his office.
He added that he's now looking forward to going out for a meal with his wife 'without always looking over my shoulder for the paparazzi.'
Tony Snores of support group StarightandProud said: 'I'm delighted Ben has decided to come out as a hetro.
'I can understand why he kept it so secret for so long - the Conservatives are not known for their open-mindedness and there was once a time when you couldn't get anywhere in the party without having some sort or affair with a rent boy in your past.
'And if you'd ever slept with a female prostitute then you could kiss goodbye to your career.'
