That is funny.

IKEA design their stores to create arguments. Even if they only break up 5% of couples who shop there, worldwide that's still millions of men moving into one-bed flats that have to be furnished quickly and inexpensively.

Yes I read Newsthump too

Oh bloody hell ... I dont read News thump .... going to have to build a "topical originality" search script now .... apologies people

Well that's it - the two pieces share the same topicality, but nothing more. If you'd used Bluewater Shopping Centre instead of Ikea, no-one would have batted an eyelid.

...a few furrowed brows, though...

Hasn't stopped it going up on our front page as a ticker.
Ironic that I put up a story about exhuming Don Bradman which goes up on news thump the day after (pointed out by oxbridge) and mine doesn't get a look in despite favourable marks.I'm just off to count to ten........and relax.

If people are not nicking it then I shouldn't worry.
There will be overlap.
No harm in developing ideas from someone's bright spark though.Posted 2 years ago # -
It was suggested that I had copied news thump with my Bradman effort which was wrong because mine was put up the day before theirs and I didn't even know there was a rival site called news thump.
The irony of this one is that it is on the reverse and we have put up something that was on there first.
Although sadly for me my it appears my original Bradman story was not good enough for here despite some favourable marks.Posted 2 years ago # -
Even the ultra topical sites are struggling behind twitter, which is instant and people can all pile in on the same subject. Fortunately I don't use twitter so I'm out of the loop.

In the olden days, metropolitan wits used to have days to compose their pithy bons mots, but if you wait even 30 minutes now, there's always someone somewhere who's had a cack-handed stab at the same thought.

I'll wait 31 minutes in future but no longer.
On a different note, there's not many ideas taken up by other people.
There's some good ideas that an FP writer could take up but no one seems to.Posted 2 years ago # -
...do tell...
