A woman has been accused of wasting police time after calling the emergency services to report the disappearance of her father.
Janeece Bryers, 46 from Farnham, rang 999 on Thursday after noticing her father - who lives next door - had failed to return home five hours after leaving to buy his paper. Maurice Setters, 75, set off at 10.15am and Mrs Bryers began to worry when he hadn't returned home in the icy conditions that had hit the area.
Mrs Bryers called the emergency services but the line was engaged. After several attempts she finally managed to contact the police. When she explained the situation, the police department informed her that they had more pressing matters to attend to. They informed her that they had received a large number of calls concerning missing snowmen and other snow creations which were of far more concern than the disappearance of a person.
