   Surely I'm not the only person to breathe a sigh of relief at the UK not winning the World Cup bid? If only we could hand back the Olympics too.

   I'm with you Chiggers, Olympics too. I can't help feeling a little sorry for all those who wanted it so much but it's only a daft game.

   But how things have changed. A few short years ago, one of my complaints about the Olympics was the cost. £9bn or whatever seemed an awful lot of money. But after the credit crisis thing,£9bn seems like loose change. So, apart from the inevitable tiresome media barrage, my only beef with the Olympics now is "what's the bloody point?" But then again, I used to have a flat mate who would avidly watch a 10,000 metres race. There's nowt so queer as folks.

   I think the media believe we were all sitting their with fingers-crossed. Most people were just watching so they could create one-liners for forums, twatter and faecebook.

   On a footballing note, the World Cup is obviously the one you want to win but the European Championship is a much better competition. There's less 'dead' games, it's shorter and most teams in it could win it and it's played in Europe. The climate dictates who wins the World cup - Europe or cool - it's a European victory - Americas or boiling - it's a South American victory. And yes I do know the odd exception. Everyone knew Europe would win in South Africa because it was going to be hot or humid. Next one is Brazil so it'll be a South American win.

    Very true. It's not fair on the guys. They can referee. You can't really have female refs. It wouldn't be right.
