I think it is super-easy to add one of those swirly mystery word checks before allowing an new ID set-up and the first post. Should stop your spam iss-shoo.

They're called captchas Reich, me old fruit. I thought of that a few weeks ago but as I thought of it and it seems so obvious I assumed there must be reason why they haven't done it.

    Maybe because they're super-annoying and don't work. Isn't there a blacklist feature you can add ">>>" and ", , , , , , , . . . " to, so the posts get auto-deleted? You're using phpBB, right?

The key is to make sure you prevent your links being useful for spammers. Thats why they come back.

You need to check this page:

Ram, they haven't done it as techie types never go for the easy, off the shelf answers.

Not a question of easy or difficile, just a question of getting round to it:

Oh dear :-( looks like we'll have to set up a captcha :-(

A simple "Rikkor, you are right again" will suffice.

I can't say captcha without an angry Ben Elton sneer. Don't know why.

"Captcha" sounds like a rap singer. Oh, and this just proves that techie types get all bitter when they are presented with an easy, sensible solution.

Captchas don't work, spambots use OCR to circumvent them. The only use for captchas is to stop annoying forum trolls shooting their mouths off.

Oh, gosh. It must be some CIA super-secret technology that keeps every other site in the world free from 1985 Acura Car Parts spam then, Mr. OCR.

Quite possibly because every other site uses all the anti-spam MODs you've never heard of.

As Confucius say, to foolish man with hammer everything looks like your testicles splayed on a chopping block.

Rikkor, what about two factor authentication.

Just to make it interesting, we could virtualise it. In the cloud machine.

Shouldn't you be concentrating on completing your new book "How to lose all the Little People's money and then get bailed out by them whilst making a fat profit to boot, for Dummies"?
