Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a person called YOUR FRIEND, it will have a blurred picture of a robin or a Santa Claus on the front. It will end with a name or a squiggly signature. YOUR FRIEND will often tell you things that have been happening to them over the last year. VERY DANGEROUS versions of this card include an A4 sheet which is infused with smug news about their dreadfully tedious children. DO NOT READ THIS DRIVEL.
It will OFTEN END with a suggestion that you meet up in the NEW YEAR.
DO NOT meet up with them, as this is a mail scam. YOUR FRIEND will be as tedious as they were 14 years ago. If you call the number in the card you will end up LISTENING to their problems for up to half an hour. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you go out for a drink with them. THEY ARE STILL AS TIGHT as they were at college.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.
