Isn't anyone going to arrange a Christmas drink then?

What about, right, we all pay £100, and chip in to pay for one of those big white vehicles, that cruises through the suburbs with the windows blacked out.
What do you call them again? (No, not stretch limos)
Ah yes, that's it. Serco Prison vans.
here, imagine people's faces when the door opens, there's flash photography popping off all over the place, and we step out and walk inside a nightclub...

I'm up for it Des.
And I quite fancy a Christmas drink too.
I did try to arrange a session earlier in the year but failed spectacularly. I'll let one of the more fashionable contributors do all the hard work and I'll rock up just in time to take liberties with the Ed's bar tab.

What! The Ed's offering up a tab. I'm all ears.

I liked the Cheshire Cheese, as it's a huge pub, and its got character even when empty
I quite fancy a pub in Hampstead or east London, as those are foreign countries to me
Does anyone fancy the Coronation in Surbiton.
It was once a cinema, and after that had a brief spell as London's first (and only) naked gym. They still have a swimming pool in the basement.

Coronation suits me fine. If I'm invited that is. Surbiton is on a comedy ley-line, I think.
But not on a tube-line...

I'm all ears
Sounds like an interesting passport photo...
Christmas drink, eh? Surbiton or Hampstead, then, not rural Cumbria?

Is this only for the elitist clique or can anyone come?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Well my only hope is the 'can anyone come part' of that sentence as I certainly don't fit the elitist clique part.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Well if they're going to let anyone come kind of ruins the point of having an elitist clique :)
Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm not part of any elitist clique but if you leave the details of the night out with my P.A i'll give it due consideration as to whether I will lower myself to attend such a gathering.
Now if you excuse i've just got to reply to an invite to a garden party at Buckingham Palace next year.Posted 2 years ago # -
Sounds like a good idea Des, how about we all go to Brisbane?
Posted 2 years ago # -
What a genius idea! I'll be there. Who can make The Bruce Tavern, on the 23rd?
If you all insist on somewhere in London, I'll have to very regretfully decline, you bastards. Wish I could be there, it would be lovely to see you all again.

Sorry Rick, busy on 23rd.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Can anyone come then? I don't write much but I do like beer.
Posted 2 years ago # -
That's a bugger, Des - you'll be in town then? :-) Ah well, same time next year...

I hear Boston is nice this time of year.
We could all go to Rikkor's apartment.
Don't be put off by the filth. Like his hero, Quentin Crisp, Rikkor never likes to dust because he finds it soooooooo uuuun-necessary.

Or what about Japan?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I `ll be there .

global warming notwithstanding...

What global warming

Over on the allotment forum they organise regional gatherings. So logically there would be a Scots one for Jeni, Stunts and co., one in the midlands and one in the south.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Why don't we just gatecrash the Allotment Forum gathering then? Saves us going to all the bother of arranging our own.
Posted 2 years ago # -
How about Florence? Only £69 from City Airport according to the nice ad they're aiming at us.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I preferred Zebedee.

What about we all get a train to France? Getting pissed on the Eurostar seems like a tremendously good idea. If a tad time consuming
I quite like Norfolk too.
Tnen there's the Cotswolds
Does anyone fancy a pint in the Coal Hole on the Strand?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Or what about the Red Lion in Westminster. there's always the off chance you might spot an MP or a TV pundit.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I can book upstairs at Bruach if you want?
Posted 2 years ago # -
@ronseal, yes please.
Posted 2 years ago # -
