Nice one Ox. You rest my case. 5 stars.

There is only one truly viable long-term solution to our energy needs and that is nuclear fusion. And that is still decades away (as it has been for 60 years).

Are they hobnobs riesler? If so, put the kettle on and I'll be there in a minute.

There won't be a single solution, but a combination of many.

First of all can I just say that I love everyone on here.
Al - I do understand what you are saying. I totally agree also with Oxy that we have changed the planet more than all the other species put together. The fact remains though that climate change would have happened with or without human intervention. The earth is about 4 billion years old, we have been seriously polluting for what, 200 years? Global climate changes take place over thousands of years.
Oxy - I am not suggesting that we will take every last drop of oil then change to renewables, I am agreeing that this process is well underway. But surely if our acceleration of climate change was so dire, the oil would stay in the ground and we would move to greener sources of energy more quickly. The government has just cancelled plans for the Severn Barrage on environmental and cost grounds. That's great, but surely a few otters could be displaced if the very future of the planet was at stake?
Anyone heard of Nikola Tesla?

Nice place you've got. No sugar thanks. I've brought some chocolate digestives to put in the tin. Is that an original mono Hard Day's Night LP?

Very kind Des, the tin is over in the kitchen between the Soda-stream and the Breville.
I like a Hard Day's Night and I'm looking forward to when they release the film on Betamax.

Well that was n`t very nice was it ,I have two beautiful children ,I help the people in my area for free where others charge .When new teachers come to this area I let them pay me for my services when they get their first pay check ,with no receipt .I often buy or give homeless people food or drinks ,I give my workers free food and beer and cheap appliances and cash in hand .I put a lot of money into the local economy and play Santa at Christmas .You may not like what I write or say ,but a few people are glad that I am alive .Your remark was childish and not well thought out you should be ashamed of yourself, then again you are probably a prick.

Childish? what, Betamax or Soda stream?

Sorry, I didn't quite catch that riesler. I know it's rude to comment, but I have to say you've certainly got some noisy neighbours. Are they always bickering like this?

That'd give them some warming to complain about. When do we start?

Is this ok for you Rikkor? Is it religion or the death of Princess Diana next?

Dear JayGee,
The normal fluctuation in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere over the last 500,000 years is between 180ppm (during ice ages) to 280ppm (during warm spells) this cycle has happened on three occasions in tha period, and they are regular in period and amplitude. We have added 70ppm to that in the last 200 years (to 350ppm and rising) and have increased the surface warming by about 7 watts per square metre of the Earth's surface as a result. this has resulted in a sustained warming over that period. Why can you not get it into your head that this rapid increase is happening now at this astonishing rate unlike previous natural warming episodes, and it would not have happened without human activity?

THis guy is evil ...he won`t share his secrets

Al - you make a good point but the whole 'science' of climate change is unreliable. Governments say 'we must act now' but that is not played out in reality. They spew out doom and gloom in the media about what will happen in the future but very little is actually being done to stop the rot, which is the basis of my scepticism.
I am sure everyone is bored of this now and we are not going to convince each other so let's call it quits. I respect your views on the subject but we'll just have to disagree.
