I'm hoping that the use of the P word is a crass and ill-judged attempt at humour. Otherwise, you are a thick racist cunt.

No ,it was trying to say you are a cunt for making fun of 29 brave men that still lie in the pit torn and mangled .Wanker .

What, did satire die along with them? Everyone draws their line in different places here. Mine is more Chris Morris than Terry and June. Sorry about that.

But racism is inexcusable. Why are all 'Pakis' not decent people, as you imply in your opening post? Which reads as below, before you edit it:

"these are not politicians or pakis they are decent people"

Well Mr De ,it is very difficult to marry them because if you are not of their religion you are not good enough ,they look down on others as infidels .Maybe you should stick to making fun of people whose boots you aren`r fit to lick .maybe you should tell your fellow geordies of your funny satirical story .

p.s. I was an ex miner

Is this the right room for an argument?

    Look,

Person 1 = crossing boundaries of taste with ill-judged satire too soon after a tragic event.

Person 2 = outraged, reasonably enough.

    Person 2 wins.

    BUT ALSO

Person 2 = totally disgusting use of racial slur

Person 1 = outraged, reasonably enough

    Person 1 wins.

Just stop with the shit-stirring and get back to the funnies, please.

@arrghgarry, not a criticism, but your post also seems to suggest that there are no decent politicians; I'm sure that can't be true, there must be some somewhere. And it only takes one politician to be decent to falsify your argument. By the way, I (generally) like your stuff, it reminds me of Spike Milligan on one of his more lurid days.

I thought arrghgarry's original comment was a Gervais-esque deliberate PC/un-PC gag...starting off making a fair point, then messing it up by saying something really inappropriate...

Did anyone see the length of Damian Grammaticus's tie last night on the news? It was on an un-related story. Visual comedy is still going strong.

Having said that, Spike was also prone to the odd racist epithet, but that was 30+ years ago, and he didn't have the catch-all of 'post-modernist irony' to justify it.

I live in japan and I am subject to offensive language on nearly a daily basis ,so please don`t lecture me on racism .I believe racism is in all of us .I have a Japanese wife Japanese kids ,how many on this site have married outside of their race ? Intermarriage between all races, religions ,where ever is a very small percentage .

If I had said Aussies and Politicians people would have seen a joke (apart from Aussies) why?

I originally posted this to see if people would be more upset on other peoples behalves or more upset that someone had made fun of 29 dead miners not yet in their graves ,looks like I was right.

My ex-wife is chinese. I have great experience with people of all cultures.

I've also spent a lot of time down mines. I bet most of you haven't. I know what it's like down there, and how dangerous these places are.

The people who do this job live daily with risk. We heard about these guys on the news, but we don't hear about the thousands of other miners who die each year in mining accidents. They're not deemed newsworthy.

So, I don't think De-scribe's post was particularly funny, but I also don't think it deserved your outrage arrghgarry, particularly as you managed to phrase it in a way that made you sound like a ignorant racist fuck. I accept from your following comments that you're not racist, but you do need to be careful what you say.

I think it's the "P" word that can offend.

As far as I know, Aussies don't mind being called that. Proud if anything.
Pakistani people hate the term "Paki", but not as much as Indians hate it.

And I also think racism is much more widespread in other cultures than we realise, throughout the world. Look at Central Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan vs India, etc. In the grand scheme of things, it's less in the UK than many other places.

And I'd originally thought he was joking...

First of all the term 'Paki' is and is meant to be offensive to people of Pakistani origin and is even more so to Indians when indiscriminately applied. The fact that there are a fair few religious bigots (not strictly speaking racist, but let that go for now) among Pakistanis is neither here nor there.

The generalisation is rubbish anyway, there are plenty of inter-racial marriages between Asians and whites in this country and elsewhere. Not that marrying someone from another race automatically means you are not racist yourself, as seems to have been demonstrated here.

The premise of the post, vizt. that we should be more upset by 29 people dying in a disaster on the other side of the world than casual racism here, is too stupid for words. (a) It is possible to be upset by both or neither and (b) you're comparing apples with fish in the first place - one is totally beyond our reach, the other is right here, right now.

My dear Ox percentage wise there are very few marriages ,even Pakistani families will not let certain Pakistanis marry into their families and prefer close cousins so as not to let go of the wealth and that is why there is a high incidence of abnormal kids amongst the Pakistani communities .

I sometimes do business with Pakistanis (a pain, as they are worse than Jews money wise)having said that I get on well with them and they are honest .

As usual among the casually racist, you are turning something that happens into a racial trait. As for your comments in paragraph 2, I hope you're joking but on past form I doubt it.
