A Plymouth man, who wishes to remain anonymous, is bringing a case of discrimination against the BBC because he is one of only three people in the world who actually look like a photofit picture. (The others are horror writer Stephen King, and Glastonbury Festival Organiser Michael Evis).
In a statement released today he says, “I can not leave the house for two days after the broadcast of Crime Watch with out being reported to the local police for some crime or other. It’s hell!”
“My wife and I met because she suffers from a similar condition. Her problems started shortly after she became a teenager when she developed a small black rectangle over her eyes. Everyone assumed she was involved in the porn industry. Soon the black spread to cover her whole body until she became just a silhouette. She has also started speaking in a low, distorted voice. Now people think she is a drug addict, or I have beaten her up.”
He goes on to say, “It’s our son I feel sorry for, a combination of our DNAs has meant his face is just a pattern of shimmering flesh coloured blocks. Every time he appears on CCTV it looks as if he has been disguised, and is doing something wrong. He is not even allowed into the local news agents on his own.”
He added, “This is a problem I have had to live with all my life, as both my parents looked like drawings by court artists”.
