Dewsbury mother Dawn Guthrie was devastated when she returned home from work to find that all the doors on her advent calendar had been smashed in and the entire contents stolen by thieves.
Fighting back the tears, Mrs Guthrie told reporters “These people are inhuman. They have no idea how their actions impact on people’s lives. It will take us weeks to recover from this. There is no way that this calendar can be repaired, it’s absolutely ruined. I’m sure the contents will be miles away by now. I’ll never see them again. How do these people sleep at night? They're animals. Hanging's too good for them.”
Mrs Guthrie's husband Darren, a joiner, was also at work at the time of the theft. Comforting his wife, he added "Its very hard to accept that these people have been in your house, going through your things. I was particularly looking forward to seeing what was behind the Three Wise Men on December 9th."
The Guthries' son Wayne, 14, who had arrived home from school to discover the theft, was too ill to talk last night.
