Zellweger in the original Bridget Jones' Diary
The 41-year-old Texas-born actress is currently dangerously under-weight, in accordance with her Hollywood contract. However, she has reportedly been ingesting small portions of rice cakes, bean sprouts, and kale in an effort to "fatten-up" for the role of the neurotic, self-deprecating singleton who thinks she's fat but really looks exactly like any woman who has attained her medically correct ideal body weight.
What a fatty!
This will be the third time Zellweger has had to resemble a normal human being for this film franchise. The Academy-Award Winning actress and anorexia poster-girl recalls the initial approach from producers Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Famine, third horseman of the Apocalypse, astride his black steed.
"At first I was reluctant when they told me the character was fat. But then Tim [Bevan] and Famine assured me that they wanted 'Hollywood fat', which is more like a healthy woman who goes to the gym twice a week and stays away from the chocolate biscuits".
Zellweger was nominated for Best Actress for the first Bridget Jones film, as well as the Karen Carpenter Award for recklessly endangering her health, but lost out to Halle Berry and Calista Flockhart, respectively.
