Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey announced today that he would be taking part in a new reality TV show for Channel 5, which aims to train a team of unemployed 16 to 24 year olds with virtually no middle management experience and turn them into top class browbeaters. The successful participants will then go on to earn work placements in the kitchens of Mr Ramsey’s restaurants.
In a statement Mr Ramsey said, “I was approached by Channel 5 who wanted to take the format of the Jamie’s Kitchen series and adapted it to my management style. A lot of these poor kids have never had the experience of abusing their subordinates, exercising petty power and being physically and verbally aggressive. I want to give them that”.
Mr Ramsey continued, “back when I was head chef at Claridge’s my underlings knew I could do what I liked to and with them. They respected me, but more importantly they feared me. I want to share that exhilaration with these young kids, and maybe find the cheap tyrants of the future. I want them to learn how to use destructive criticism, physical humiliation and mind games in the most effective way possible”.
The series, which will air in early 2011, has the working title of “Well pick it up, you dozy t**t”.
