I've just received a communication from some outfit called Sell your Solar.
Considering my solar panels bring me in more than £2,000 a year, and that the best RPI-linked annuity I can get, even at my age, is around 5% (do insurance companies really think that I'm going to live to nearly 100? I'm not the Duke of Edinburgh!) that makes the amortised profit from my panels worth at least £40,000. In fact, since the interest rate on most savings schemes is currently nearer 0.5%, that makes the value worth nearer £400,000.
I can't see Sell Your Solar offering me anything like that, and I suspect that the only takers are likely to be poor, desperate people who urgently need to just raise as much cash as they possibly can, immediately.
I hope not too many people get ripped off. There are enough unfortunate people who have already been scammed out of their pension funds!
