Every potential divorcee in the country has now abandoned their plan, and decided to continue living an utterly miserable life with a partner whose company causes them ongoing irritation, frustration and distress, now and for ever, however much they hate such an existence.
This follows advice from their friends, who point out that divorces cast money, can be messy and complicated, and will almost certainly involve long, acrimonious post-divorce-settlement negotiations. In addition, after divorce, the divorcee will have to create their own new household which will be far more inconvenient and more expensive than continuing to share a home.
As one of these previously potential divorcees explained 'I'm so glad my friends pointed all this out to me. I didn't know any of this - the downsides to getting divorced had absolutely never occurred to me for a moment! But now this has been explained to me, I've seen the light, and I will now continue to share a home with my obnoxious, domineering partner for ever, however unbearable this wretched existence this will be.'
