The police were criticised for not preparing. Maybe they actually were very clever - if they'd gone in heavy, there would be many deaths on both sides. In somewhere like Washington, I'm sure there are plenty of police around, security & the nearby military base. And then they would have been criticised

This event was orchestrated - simple assembly, move in, cause trouble, drift away; no collateral damage - someone knew what they were doing to organise it

Depends on how you quantify. They captured a national icon building, obstructed government, and achieved headlines around the world.
However we all might view their absolutely ludicrous antics/beliefs/craziness/arrogant and disgusting fascism, they will be counting this as a very big win indeed.

I was unaware that Twitter management had, up until now, made a deliberate exemption in Trump's case. However their latest decision (which actually managed to shut Trump up for quite a while) does rather illuminate the point I was trying to make in post no.3 of this thread:
