A report released by Yahoo! today claims that 'as much as 98% of internet content has just been lifted from elsewhere, or reposted in a different format.'
The report continues, 'The practice is becoming increasing prevalent in on-line journalism where several different news sources will merely paste in huge blocks of text from the original source, and justify it as an original article by topping or tailing each chunk with standard journo link phrases.'
It concludes with, 'apart from the obvious laziness this implies, it means that the internet could effectively be slashed to one-fiftieth of it's current size with no loss of content.'
