In what was described as an 'intimate ceremony', Her Majesty the Queen has officially opened her Advent Calendar. Among those present were Prince Philip, BBC Royal Fawner-In-Chief Nicholas Witchell, and Matthew Heslop, CEO of Lidl.
Her Majesty looked radiant in a fetching combination of winceyette nightie, tartan dressing gown and fluffy corgi slippers. Clearly less formal than most royal events, The Queen was in jovial mood. "One is never quite sure whether they are doors or windows." she quipped before prizing open the perforated card.
Further jollity ensued when identifying the miniscule piece of chocolate inside.
Nicholas Witchell deferentially suggested 'candle', while Mr Heslop was firmly of the opinion it was a Christmas tree. However, as always, it was left to Her Majesty to have the final word. "Remind you of anything, Philip?" she quipped.
