Vice President of the Association of Chief of Police Officers (ACPO), Matt Baggott has been applauded by the ConDem Party for demonstrating initiative and a positive attitude towards the age of austerity now under-whelming the UK. In a brave response to the demand for cuts in the police budget he has started to roll out a nationwide initiative that will save literally millions of pounds.
Starting from December the first all Police Forces across the Country will begin to replace retiring, injured or just plain lazy police offices with state of the art, realistic feel cardboard cut-out Police Officers.

Test have proved that these life-size replica Police Officers have a multitude of benefits. Firstly they are low cost to maintain and they don't complain or drink too much. Also from a political perspective they are easy to replicate in varying styles and as such overcome the complaints about sexual and racial discrimination in the forces, which should be especially useful in inner cities.
Matt Baggott was agush with enthusiasm when he spoke to the press "In tests we have found that these officers are really welcomed by the general public, there are fewer confrontational issues which means many situations resolve themselves without arrest or conviction leading to significant cost savings. Even more importantly we have found these officers are far less inclinded to beat up suspects, which in consideration of recent bad press is key to re-instating public trust in the officer on the beat!"
Keep your eyes peeled for a Cardboard Bobby in your area soon.
