Police are appealing for witnesses after a Pennine Way hiker was murdered. This is the second time that a walker in the area has been killed, and investigators are not ruling out a connection.
Speaking at a press conference, Superintendent Richard Leigh told reporters, 'Derbyshire Constabulary are taking this crime very seriously. The Serious Crimes Unit are pursuing several paths of enquiry, but a local bovine with a track record is our prime suspect. A photofit of the suspect has been issued and we are urging members of the public who have any information to get on the horn. The steaks could not be higher in this area.'
'We believe this could be the work of a cereal killer as there is a clear pattern to these crimes. The suspect is dangerous and should not be approached. There is evidence of a serious beef from the past and a history of madness.' Asked if police were close to making an arrest, Leigh responded, 'Even if we do take them into custody, there is a high probability the suspect will claim herd immunity.'
A rambler who preferred not to be identified said, 'I can't believe the udder senselessness of it.'
