   Don't know whether the Junior Apprentice version of this ever got off the ground, but watching this last night it struck me that a Senior Apprentice programme might be fun. All the hopefuls would have to be over 50. The egos wouldn't be so huge, and when Lord Alan got bossy the contestants would just turn round and tell him to fuck off.

   What fun.

   It would still attract a bunch of twats, with made up job titles, ego's the size of manchester and the inate inability to work ina real business environment.

   It wouldn't be entertaining if any of the apprentices were capable.
   It works because they are so ill-equipped for the tasks they get.

   Someone I know spends daylight hours in a dismal place where the show is commented with enthusiasm and satisfaction by those in charge. They appear to receive what passes for wisdom, in fascist circles, gratefully. It would give you the chills.

   I am all for a Senior Apprentice version, but it ought to be apposite: something like Grumpy Old Guys with charm, charisma, chtatch, plenty of intellectual baggage and something of The Oldest Member from P.G. Woodhouse's golf club: stories galore.

   I might attempt a sample episode....

   I don't know what I hate about the programme most. The contestants have so much arrogance, self-delusion and crass stupidity it could be classed as a new form of mental illness or personality disorder. Any ideas for a name for this BTW?

   And then there's the shameless grovelling, elbowing everybody out of the way to get as far up Lord Alan's arse as they can. Yet another personality disorder.

   Why do I watch it? Because I can't stop! Schadenfreude on steroids.

   Nice one Sooty BTW. I chortled. And go for it Hunter.

   The personality disorder of which you have temporarily mislaid the apapellation, Mr S. Croat, could be fascising bozotitis, a form of congenital idiocy, not to be confused with various forms of fascitis, a flesh-eating bacterial infection.
