A case has been heard today in a court room in Tanzania of a suspect who is being charged with stalking offences.
The defendant known simply as A.Lion has made a not guilty plea of intent to hunt to kill the deer but the court heard that this isn't the first time this particular lion has been embroiled in this sort of controvesy.
'There is a whole host of alledged stalking incidents that have involved this lion' explained game reserve detective Peter Umbongo told the court room ' I have to admit that on some occasions the lion has gone on and innocently caught the unfortunate deer and ripped it to pieces and ate it up but i'm sure that this is not the case every time'.
Umbongo believes the lion has gone on a psychological campaign of causing unnesscary stress and worry too many innocent pasture grazing land mammals including deer, zebra, wildebeest and even on one occasion an arrdvarrk who was innocently passing by at the time.
' Stalking is a sinister practice and the stress that these poor creatures have gone through is unmeasurable' continued Umbongo ' the lion is guilty of this, I know it, he knows it and for him to come up with this pathetic plea that he's only doing this to kill these creatures for the purposes of eating them is to be quite honest hard to swallow'.
The jury has been sent away to come up with a verdict but the judge has asked them to take into account evidence given by the lions brother as a defence witness which could be tainted towards helping his brother get out of trouble.
'I strongly believe that this witness has committed perjury as in my opinion he told a Li on the oath' summised the Judge.
