Strictly Come Dancing star Anne Widdecombe has controversially pulled out the Nativity Play in her home village of Haytor, Devon. Miss Widdecombe had played the part of the Virgin Mary in the annual production for the past ten years.
The former Minister had a twinkle in her eye as she laughed and joked with reporters during a break in ‘Strictly’ rehearsals this week, hinting that perhaps she was “no longer qualified for the role”.
The news comes after allegations in a Sunday newspaper of an off-screen romance between Widdecombe and an un-named diminutive millionaire magician.
When asked what she thought of the allegations, Widdecombe giggled “Not a lot”.
