In 'Attention all Shipping', a moderately amusing travelogue around various landfalls within the Shipping Forecast (pub. 2004), author Charlie Connelly writes of how puffins are collected for stuffing:
'Faeroese law states that you can't shoot puffins. You can, however, twat them with a big stick. Skilled puffin catchers scale the treacherous cliffs twatting puffins with big sticks and fastening them to their belts for safe passage...'
