St Stephen's primary school in Reading has today announced that they will be bidding to be a contingency host for the 2012 London Olympics.
"We have put together a strong package, outlining that we have a playing field to host athletics and football. The PTA infrastructure that we have developed over the last few years will mean that we will have an abundance of refreshment stalls and rafles available to any international visitors. Our stron links with the local community have meant that we have secured concessionary room rates at the Golden Lion, the Travel Inn and a whopping 15% discount for meals bought at the local Beefeater restaurant" said St Stephen's Headteacher James Smyth.
"What we are showing here is that we are an albeit small local primary school that we can indeed stage and host one of the world's foremost sporting events should the delivery of the 2012 London infrastructure not be delivered on time due to current austerity cuts made by the Government".
