How not nice? In what way?
Would you like me to sing?
Posted 3 years ago # -

"I may not always love you
As long as are stars above you"Also, I have a fractured skull.
It's ace.

any particular Beach Boys song, something from Surf's Up....
my favourite...Posted 3 years ago # -
I happen to love John's offering of "God Only Knows", one of my all time favourite songs. Quite like "Sloop John B" as my lovely Grandad was John B.
I can do you some Mamas and the Papas if you like?

All the leaves are brown (leaves are brown)
And the sky is grey (and the sky is grey)
I went for a walk (went for a walk)
On a winter's day (on a winter's day)
I'd be safe and warm (safe and warm)
If I was in LA (if I was in LA)
California dreamin' (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day...Posted 3 years ago # -
As we are doing Beach boys, I am glad to confirm that Wouldn't it be Nice was first dance at my wedding last year- and the only reason it wasn't God only knows was that first line.
VirtualWill- have you heard Brian doing Surf's Up solo on piano? There's a bootleg of it floating around from the Smile session back in '67 when the songs only part-written.

thank you ver much for the songs.
i am a great fan of the beach boys and mommas and pappas too.

I was going to go for "Stars shining bright above you...."

Hi John, I've not heard that boot, but I think I might know someone who
has a copy.
Wouldn't it be nice is one of those songs that always bring a smile, God only knows is one of those rare pop songs with raw and open emotions.Posted 3 years ago # -
Have you broken your shoulder?
Posted 3 years ago # -
yes, ms aunt, i slipped in snow and broke my right shoulder.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Would you say you're accident prone or just unlucky?
Posted 3 years ago # -
... or often very drunk?
Posted 3 years ago # -
hello mr laurel and mr square. i do drink quite a lot but i hadn't been drinking when i did this. i slipped on the ice on our steep drive. i dunno about being 'accident prone' or unlucky'. one good thing is that i never complain.

It almost seems to be a waste, having a serious accident when sober.
I did my head in sober on Monday. I was fuming. Things hurt more when you aren't drunk.

I broke my foot when sober, and it was bloody agony. Even worse was that no-one believed that it had happened when I was sober, even though it was mid-day on a Saturday.
It also took them six weeks, 6 weeks!!! to diagnose a snapped ligament too, which took much longer to heal than my foot did.Posted 3 years ago # -
In climates where your brass will freeze
Monkeys cannot grow on trees,
And tho' on earth there's nothing bolder
They'll slip and break a useful shoulder.
Take a lesson, if you can:
When travelling toward Milan
Think first of all how very nice
Not to have slipped on standing ice.Posted 3 years ago # -
Ode to Plucky
Sir Issac Newton told us why,
apples fall from the sky
It’s known that Monkeys do the same.
Perched on a branch
awaiting fame.Tho' fame is fleeting,
Gravity not
Body breaks
Flesh doth rotSit in a chair
satire ready
enjoy your drink,
for Farrells sake
hold it steadyPosted 3 years ago # -
dear m thompson,
thank you very much for your wonderful poem. i think it should be published. it has certainly set me up for the day. bones seem to take forever to heal, however, onwards and upwards!Posted 3 years ago # -
wow mr will! a second poem and another gem. thank yuo very much. with permission, i will quote both in my memoires. very best wishes. plucky.

Plucky,
I know how you feel.
I'm planning to get a cubic centimetre of muscle taken from my shoulder. which is going to hurt.
But I'll get £500 for it. (it's a drug trial thing)Posted 3 years ago # -
Hope it's improving, Plucky.
I'm off work with, of all things, chicken pox.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Dear Mr Sauce: I would think the pox a wholly unsatisfactory colleague and cannot understand your willingness to associate yourself with suchlike, even to the point of dragging yourself away from pleasant pass-times such as can be found in these pages.
Posted 3 years ago # -
I was off school with chicken pox. But that was donkeys years ago. I guess she would have been quite young then but, nevertheless, she must be getting on a bit by now.
