Is it time to bring back some of the old English units of measurement.?

1 inch =25.4mm = 3 barleycorns

4 inches =101.6mm = 1 Hand

1 yard =36 inches=914.4mm

1 pole 3 yards, in Cheshire, or seven yards in Lancashire or 5 or 6 yards in other locations. after 1875 it became 5.5 yards universally (in 1875 The universe was effectively , British empire).

16 square poles = 1 square chain

10 square chains = 1 acre

100 acres =1 hide.

40 Hides = 1 Barony

2 gallons =1 Peck

4 Pecks = 1 Bushell

2 Bushells =1 strike

from this it should be it should be easy to calculate the no of Barleycorns in one hand.

I make it to be equal to=1 headache

"Jeeves, could you log on to jolly old amazon prime & order 2 square poles of Oilcloth for the scullery please"
