Cabinet Office minister, Francis Maude, today confirmed that the Quango Registry Council (QRC) will NOT be abolished. "The QRC are the only body who know how many quangos we have, what they do and their budgets", said Mr Maude. "It would be difficult to abolish the QRC because no one else has this information."
QRC Chief Executive, Jeffrey Thorpe said, "We are delighted that the new government recognises our valuable work. At only £100m a year, there is clear evidence that we provide a fit for purpose, value added service that is used by dozens of people. This decision should lay to rest, once and for all, the ridiculous stories about whether my £200,000 salary can be justified. Obviously, this news confirms my emoluments are entirely necessary. I am now seeking an urgent meeting with Mr Maude to see how our role can be enhanced with increased funding."
