Campaigners are celebrating today after it was announced that the Staffordshire Hoard is to remain in the West Midlands.
The target of £3.3m was reached after an eagle-eyed campaigner spotted a TV advert for Cash4Gold.com.
"It was simple. All I had to do was put the collection of sword pommels, helmet parts and processional crosses into an envelope and send it to Freepost - Cash4Gold", the do-gooder revealed. "Two weeks later they sent me a cheque for £3.3m. Luckily for us they are based near Alton Towers so we get the cash and the hoard stays here".
