Why have you chosen to mock a black woman for a verbal numerical error that she made over two-and-a-half years ago, rather than choose to mock a white man who as Chancellor made a much bigger 20,000,000,000 verbal error more recently?

...because, "Tories concede the £1.2 trillion figure was calculated by the Chancellor" doesn't work!

Is Diane Abbott black? I hadn't noticed.

Is Diane Abbott black? I hadn't noticed.
I beleive she's a woman, too. Which is why, apparently, some people on here think it's unreasonable to expect her to be able to do simple arithmetic.

A black woman? Surely, that can’t be true. I’ve heard Mr Abbott on the radio and if anyone is a fawning, gushing, pretentious, middle-class, mindless, white, suburbanite pillock, then it’s Diane Abbott.
Titus is obviously promulgating malicious bollosck again and I call on TechGuy to delete his post.

silly billy scotland - I didn't say or suggest that 'Chancellor' does work. But 'former Chancellor' and 'Philip Hammond' and 'George Osborne' would all work. Or do you not find it funny when it's a white man who makes bigger numerical/fiscal errors?

Titus - There are many types of fallacious argument. You needn't default to strawman every time.

Incompetent politicians shouldn't get a free pass.

So you won't be voting Tory then
Nine years of incontinence is surely enough for anyonePosted 1 year ago # -
Don't know who's standing in my town yet.

Incompetent politicians shouldn't get a free pass.
Then why does no-one ever use Philip Hammond for these numerical cock-up jokes?
BTW, Titus is NB's unregistered strawman provider.

A quick search via the top right corner shows plenty of jokes at Hammond's expense on a range of subjects.
Ethnicity is not the issue, incompetence is. Diane does have a bit of history when it comes to numbers but it is her choice to exhibit it on the telly.I recall a fair few jokes about Gordon Brown's incompetence as well. And give Javid some time and he'll be targeted too.

reisler - No, "a quick search via the top right corner" does not show "plenty of jokes at Hammond's expense on a range of subjects", and it shows nothing at all on the subject of his numerical cock-ups. And your strawman and false equivalence fallacies are no help either.
You don't get to exclude whatever you want from "the issue". The issue is: Politicians who have made verbal numerical errors being mocked to vastly different degrees. Perhaps you're partly correct and it's not because of their ethnicity; pehaps it's because of their gender; or perhaps it's because of their party, and the different amount and tone of 'reporting'.

Of course the actual facts are,
2 1/2 years ago Diane Abbott made a verbal numerical error, she got confused. Its obvious to anyone who actually saw the footage that she had difficulty remembering the correct figures, there was no deceit intended.
Sajid Javid is a lying fuck who has lied on air and in print,in an attempt to steal votes.
Carefully calculated bare faced lies intended to deceive voters.Either he or someone in his party sat down and spent time juggling actual and imagined figures purposely to deceive,to lie. Another lie to add to an ever increasing list of Tory lies. The first was embarrassing, the second a disgrace

'2 1/2 years ago Diane Abbott made a verbal numerical error, she got confused'. Yeah right, just the one.

How many, then? 2? 3?

I guess you have to ask which one is worse.
The one who is not very good at sums and gets it wrong.
OR
The one who is very good at sums and gets it wrong.
One makes an error and is mocked
The other makes it policy and gets elected.Posted 1 year ago # -
Goes to show that we, as an electorate (sorry, let me get it right, as a newspaper-reading and telly-tit-sucking public) don't like honest, well-meaning but flawed people like us to run the country, they want smooth, self-confident, charismatic, dishonest, criminal scoundrels. And we most *certainly* don't want non-slim non-white women with health issues.
Shrug, stroll on, get over it, and carry on eating Tory puke.
