The Thai government is to recall over 300 brides following concerns over 'minor safety issues' it was revealed last night.
Officials have confirmed that the brides, once a by-word for reliability and demure excellence, have been recalled due to 'increasing handling difficulties.'
In a carefully worded statement from Bangkok the Government admitted liability for not correcting a small oversight in the raised expectation levels of the 2009 - 2010 models, resulting in some brides becoming cold and unresponsive to the dead touch of paunchy 40 - 65 year old western males.
Patrick Wooloff, a West London publican, was one of the first to notice the inherent flaws in his new wife when she moved to England with him from Phuket in 2009. 'She started off fairly happy but somehow taking my credit card and spending £340 on an ugly belt didn't do it for her anymore. She mostly sits sobbing on the phone now.' said Mr Wooloff, 'The last time I even tried anything intimate with her she hit me with a wok.'
Safety experts agree that exposure to the social mobility of capitalist, western lifestyles has led to a jaded dissatisfaction in recent brides; a potentially dangerous formula, 'It was', they say 'only a matter of time before someone got hurt.'
