Male Maternity Medic Loses Appeal To Be Called A Midhusband

Why a male medic when the same would apply to a female medic?

As every primary school child knows, the 'wife' part of mid-wife etymologically refers to the gender of the person having the baby, not delivering it, doesn't it?

Unlike obstetrics, where the gender refers to the person assisting the birth.

Thanks - now amended. I had forgotten that my initial inspiration was the ticker you now see (which is of course even more deliberately nonsensical), and had mis-remembered / garbled it slightly in my head before I got around to posting it.
