The Nobel Prize has been awarded to Robert G Edwards, a man whose groundbreaking work in in vitro fertilization has allowed the world to be populated by yet more annoying kids than it would have done had he not left the subject well alone and concentrated on something like growing wheat on the backs of mice.
The Nobel Committee citation noted that, 'In a world rapidly being sucked dead by the sheer voracity of human consumption; Mr Edwards looked at the problem, and then added to it.'
Prof Sven Jesson, a committee member, wearily acknowledged Mr Edwards's accolade, 'While his achievements have made it possible for infertile couples to have children, he has consequently made it impossible to enjoy a peaceful 9 hour flight from Vancouver to Stockholm', said Mr Jesson, adding 'Is it too late to vote for the guy who invented Temezepam?
Most committee members were unanimous in their praise of Mr Edwards's work in producing an abundance, 4 million in total, of yet more people to compete for the world's resources, claiming that his pioneering work has provided invaluable research into other scientific concerns like; 'Coaxing the Chinese into Hot Air Balloons' and 'How Nutritious Is Hair?
