There was The Starvation in Ireland, but before that, small farmhlders were cleared from Scotland, where they stood in the way of what are now the large landholders, there. It's Dead Headed Historio-lingo for a common phenomenon, better known as massacre.

I believe we had the same thing in England, too - English aristocracy booting out the smallholders. I think the Scottish and Irish (and their supporters) should sympathise with us a little more.
[I'm trying to beat Jeni's record for number of posts on a single thread - starting WW3 is a bonus]

I just hope that all you whingers who complained about having a Scottish PM are happy now with the English one you got.
And do please remember that the Union of the Crowns occurred because ourking happened to be next in line for yours, because of some inbreeding infertility issues in England.Posted 2 years ago # -
Clearances ref: Proclaimers 'letter from America' should have all the detail you need.
Union of Crowns 1603
Union of Parliaments 1707, keeping separate the law, the church, and education. Here endeth my historical knowledge.

I'm very sorry to be the one to bring some sense of historical accuracy to this debate, but the crisis of succession which befell the British Monarchy in 15th and early 16th centuries was entirely due to Her Majesty's insistance upon being done up the wrong'un. Or perhaps it was Helen Mirren. Either way, the British monarchy were not into inbreeding as much as they are now. In those days they had the class to behead their current partners and move onto someone different. Which is why Charles deserves more credit than he gets; he is old-school, a man of true gravitas. If you can't decapitate them, drive them into a tunnel wall at high speed.

Stunts, Public Law is fab for that kind of info.
As a trivia nerd, all the dates of different Acts really does it for me!Really enjoying Obligations too, but definitely treating Crime and Deviance as light relief!

Sophia Dorothea does it.
