Could we unite factions of the left, right, anarchists, and just plain insane in a new coalition?
In the spirit of the coalition government I wondered if it might be possible to bridge the ideological gap between the political left and right (the wider gap than that between the middle aged, middle class, Westminster village, Oxbridge chaps who cuurently run all three UK political parties).
For instance, there are plenty of Tory Bufton-tuftons in the sticks who love the countryside and the environment and are opposed to any local road or house building scheme on green belt land. It seems to me that they have a lot in common with the eco-brigade, if only they could get over the whole eating meat, hunting and fishing thing.
Your average anarchist anti-globalisation protester shares a lot of ground with the the right wing of the Tory party or UKIP.
US readers can join in as well. You must know of a few Christian fundamentalists who have views not a million miles apart from Al Qaeda?
Discuss, it must be a rich vein of satire.
