It all seems to have slowed down a bit at the Evening Harold ...

Fears over Brexit saw their workforce returning home to their homelands for more stability. That or there's been a massive flounce...

or there's been a massive flounce...
Which makes me wonder: has anyone yet written a story about the EU dismissing Brexit as a 'National Flounce' ?

It does seems rather quite on their subs desk these days. I handed back my EH notepad and biro nearly 4 years ago.

It's like a scene from a dystopian novel where there's a major catastrophe and everything comes to a grinding halt. Maybe there was a visit from alien body snatchers or even worse nobody had their measles jabs...

Nothing since March 9th. Looks like Rick has been carrying it by himself for months. Good stuff, as per.
Why not come back Rick and post them here?

I would certainly support a Bring Back Rick campaign.
Top man.
His old umbrella is still in the stick stand and his mug is still on the draining board.

Indeed, we certainly need more like this, one of my favourites:

Strangely enough Rick and Sophie combined to produce one of the Harold's most popular stories ever a week or so ago! http://eveningharold.com/2019/06/08/rees-mogg-admits-to-using-camphorated-tincture-of-laudanum-with-nanny/?fbclid=IwAR1NHaJ5Gnp6oy2c9Nyej9-qZqZJ91k5rzhgyF8Vo9W0bJAw_embfPdjtjY

The main issue facing the Evening Harold and other satire sites such as Newsbiscuit over the last 3 or 4 years is Mr Zuckerberg's brutal screwing down of the numbers of "followers" that see any sub / story posted. The Harold has something close to 15,000 FB followers and a post might only get released to 200 people's Newsfeeds. Facebook has a 'solution' to that, you can pay them to boost your post so it's released to more followers but that's a very uneconomical approach. The only way to 'beat' the Facebook system is to post really standout subs that get lots of likes and shares ... easier said than done! If a site posts uninspiring subs that don't get mass shares, the Facebook algorithm downgrades your site and the numbers of followers it allows to see your posts gets worse. While this oppressive Facebook control is just merely annoying for a hobbyist site such as the Evening Harold, it is much worse for more mainstream publishers who rely on Facebook for a big portion of their business.

Yikes sums it up nicely.

Glad they're doing ok. Rick still pops up on my FB feed every now and then. Great chap – ought to be Tory party leader...
... although this also applies to virtually everybody apart from the twats in contention. Rory seems like a good cove though, not a bounder like Johnson.
