Thieves broke into a warehouse in Poitiers early yesterday morning and stole last year’s entire crop of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
Police think the audacious robbery had been made easier for the thieves by French peasants who, it seems had unwittingly trampled the grapes into a liquid, allowed it to ferment in large vats for a while and then poured it into bottles before putting a large cork like object in the open end.
Police believe the thieves may have been from the UK after a white van driven at high speed on the wrong side of the road by a man using a mobile phone and eating Brie that had only been out of the fridge for a week had overlooked a consignment of 50,000 Gitanes having mistaken them for firelighters made from donkey poo.
NB: having correctly identified them as firelighters made from donkey poo.
And stuff.

Isn't Poitiers a bit cool-climate for growing Cabernet Sauvignon? Cabernet Franc would be a better bet, but Sauvignon Blanc does OK there as well.

I'd recommend a Lutomer Riesler. It cleans a big, big carpet, for less than half a crown.
