Once he goes we will all see who has the real power.

I should mention that he had this nickname at independence in 1980. Used only by whites & ex-pats (now ex-ex-pats), naturally.
Not very funny, but Mugabe has many close followers & a severe police force. The current arrangement may not be great, but his successor could be even worse. It's such a shame, because the ordinary folk are fantastic, the country is beautiful, there are fabulous nature reserves & there are vast mineral resources. Zimbabwe should be as rich as RSA.

I remember a year at school were everyone started saying names backwards. That winter just flew by. We had crazes back then even before Pokemon cards came along. Trebor, of course, was one of the more special ones. I had a mate called Cuff who wasn't overly pleased with that year. A few other genuine ones readily spring to mind and mine wasn't that great. The school bully used to call me a smelly greebo wanker. I don't he quite grapsed the fundamentals of the name game. I told him that would mean my name was yllems obeerg reknaw, which would make me Welsh. He punched me. I told him that in years to come I was going to become a celebrity and tell people I was bullied by him and get behind a government campaign - Bullying is For People who go Through School with no Hassles while the Person Being Bullied is Affected by it All of Their life and Wishes they could Have Been the Bully Instead because who Wants To be The Bigger Person - You may as well Be The Person who Can Twat Everyone Else.

Mr Garry (or can I call you arrgh ?) - Tsvangirai does appear to be a good chap, and have some good chums, but Mugabe is still President & he has followers. Millions have migrated to RSA, millions are still starving and the Matabele don't seem to be in the picture at all. I wish Tsvangirai all the best, but African politics often doesn't involve being nice & shaking hands, and the law is sometimes bypassed. Change often takes place in a messy way.
I hope I'm wrong.

Best to look at Wikipedia. Seems that the Beeb is allowed back in, though I haven't seen any reports by them yet. I was in North-East RSA a couple of years ago, and there were many camps for the 3.4 million refugees (2007) from a population of 12 million.
