Mr. Moses Odiaka, age 83, of Dawakin Kudu, Kano Province, has found himself penniless and taking shelter in a hog shed in Des Moines, Iowa, after succumbing to the well-known American 9-1-4 fraud.
"It sounded so reasonable," said Mr. Odiaka. "Someone from the Bush administration had diverted hundreds of millions of funds from Afghanistan and Iraq to an account at the Farmers and Drovers Bank of Des Moines. He only needed my help in getting the money out of the country. I must have unaccountably misunderstood where I should meet him.
"I would like to get back home but, incredibly, you have to wait longer for a tricycle pedicab here than in Nigeria."
