I don't know why.
I don't know how.
But this gobbet had me laffing more than anything else I've seen on NB.***** (if I could, but the other one you put on Writers' Room had a follow-up line which, IMVHO, isn't necessary)

Either
(a) I have completely lost my sense of humour
(b) The standards have dropped considerably since I was last a regular here, or
(c) There is some hidden subtlety that has gone right over my headYours,

(d) Donny501's back and posting under a new name.

Hello Barney, I'm at a loss too.
I think (a), (b) and (c) are possibilities, but as I don't know you, couldn't possibly comment on (a) and as they say, 'chacun a son gout'.
My favourable comment was strictly directed to hero2zero's headline, in that's it's very daft but (imvho) funny, not the um... eccentric addendum from 'garry'.Posted 2 years ago # -

Whe I mentioned the Pope today ,my friend had never heard of the the term ,in Japanese it is Ho Oo now Ho means the law and Oo means the King .
Of course a mixed translation could be king of the Ho`s .

I typed some stuff in then thought better of it.

Phlegm, nice Donny501 observation. You obviously dragged this up from your congested lungs and spat it into the moribund emptiness of this chat room.
Barney, don't worry. It's not funny at all. (On the other hand - at least someone is trying.)

Arrghgarry, what is "rape of Nanking" in Japanese?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I think you know the answer. Japanese textbooks often refer to it as 南京事件 - "The Nanking Incident".

Oh, yeah, I remember now. I can write "Joe, me so horny" with my eyes closed, but I consistently forget the character for Nanking.

I nearly got caught out this morning and it would have sounded very similar to the Nanking incident ...
I guess that would be Nankin jikken ,if you wanted to rub it in to a Japanese person,of course only a few people got groped and a couple of bicycles were stolen according to japanese textbooks.
