Shock news from the world of science as well known mathematician and scientist Stephen Hawking made the astonishing statement today by saying ' Dr who is real and is and has and will have actually happened, still happen and is happening now'.
Hawkings justified his amazing claim by saying ' the exploration of travelling in time and space has been no secret to many scientists and this has been demonstrated by one of them for the last 47 years on bristish tv'.
When pressed on the subject by journalists who stated that Doctor Who was merely a fiction based tv hero who fought made up aliens to save the universe, Hawkings countered it by saying ' that has been the popular myth spread by the media over the years and as Jack Nicholson famously said in a few good men " you couldn't handle the truth" '.
Hawkings sanity has been never been an issue until now but it seems that he's been dogmatic in his defence of his beliefs and even states that it was the Doctor who gave him a new lease of life after his unfortunate decline into disabilty ' after the doctor defeated the daleks in 1974, he salvaged the dalek leaders davros's life support mobility chair to help me keep alive and I also have him to thank for my ability to speak as the technology behind k9 the robot dog is the same technology that I still use to this day to speak with'.
It's a mystery as to why a once well thought of scientist and philopsher should have such crazy dillusions over the existence of a fictional time traveller and medics are worried that this maybe another symptom of his ailments but Hawking was still of the opinion that Dr Who is real and will stake his reputation on it ' I know that i'm not wrong in thinking that if it wasn't for the intervention of the Doctor we would of now been invaded and taken over by the clangers in 1969'. When put to him that the clangers were from a totally different tv series about fluffy little puppetts that lived on the moon he said ' that is another popular myth. The clangers were also real'.
Carers for the genius paraplegic were worried that his batteries were running a little low on his life support machine causing starvation of oxygen to his brain but having checked them thoroughly they were still fully charged.
More seriously for Hawking is the reaction of his peers at the National Academy of Scientists as their Cheif Scientist Dr Wilf Jonas Werrell commented' we are very dissappointed in Stephens dillusional beliefs in a fictional tv series being real but as my friend Dr Spock told me the other evening " it's life Wilf but not as we know it" .
Hawkings was unavailble for further comment as he was at home watching another episode of Doctor Who battling against the Cybermen but did say ' if we do not take the Doctor seriously we will be unable to stop this sort of thing', although there will be many struggling for work six foot tall actors who will all be hoping he's wrong.
Current Doctor Matt Smith was asked to comment on Hawkings beliefs ' if thinks all this crap is real then good luck to him but as far as i'm concerned after the next series i'll be the best paid employee of the beeb now Jonathan Ross has gone'.
