Former Monty Python star Terry Jones is threatening to burn the Life of Brian script unless former Python cohort Eric Idle moves successful musical Spamalot from the west end.
Mr Idle, responsible for the creation of Spamalot, is adamant that Mr Jones is making a very serious mistake in threatening to burn what is to many people, a sacred text.
When asked to comment Mr Idle said, “Terry was funny in his day, but his recent TV shows about barbarians and stuff, well, it’s time he came up with something new, eh, know what I mean. nudge nudge.”
Americans are concerned that this inflammatory protest might cause riots across the continent by fanatic suburban Python nerds who cherish the Life of Brian beyond all reason.
Mr Jones said. “I realise this action may upset some people, but enough is enough. But I may consider postponing my protest if Barack Obama himself asks me to.”
Mr Idle said, “Terry must realise, we’re taking it on tour with it anyway.”
