Scotland Yard's crack naming unit has finally come up with a handle for a 'most wanted' domineering Vegan who always seems to be first in the queue for everything.
CNU19 (crack naming unit 19) is the little known, but elite, band of professionals who are forced to devise names for everything the police do. Whether it's coming up with names for an investigation, such as Operation Not-Much-we-Can-Do or handles for wanted criminals, such as The Parker, CNU19 is up to the task.
"It's one of the many important behind the scenes jobs that the public fails to appreciate," said Neil Conway, CNU19's director of naming things. "We don't just copy all our terms from America. We bust our asses, twenty four seven to originalise our content."
Thinking up original names, that reflect the nature of any police initiative, is never easy. Conway says he can spend days working on a realistic code name, such as the recent Operation This-isn't-We-I-joined-the-Job and the high profile Operation Plenty Of Overtime and No One to Answer To.
