It's installed by the council to make sure they don't overfill them.
It's also rumoured that the cat was put in the wrong bin, cat's aren't general waste, they can be recycled as gonks, so she may face charges there.
I thought the same thing about the CCTV.
Oh, sorry Rik, rumored....
I said on here that everyone now knows his car can be broken into from the driver's side. Pretty pointless system. All it will tell him when he gets up of a morning is whether his car has gone or not. A look out of the window will do the same job.
They don't need CCTV to find out the cat was in the wrong bin as the cat was chipped to prevent just such an occurance.
I had a playstation that was chipped.
Didn't stop it being stolen, but the games were cheap....
This story is one of the few examples of CCTV being useful. Several years ago a friend of mine had his house burgled and the robbers stole his credit card. Upon checking the statement to confirm if the robbers had used it, he found they had filled up their car using his card at a local petrol station about half an hour after the robbery, so he called the police with the time and date and suggested that they check out the petrol station's forecourt tapes to get the vehicle's registration. Sherlock Plod decided that it was too much hassle, so the robbers got away with it.
There is a Parisian Prankster who darts around the city with a large mirror by means of which he shows CCTV monitors what is happening in the window above the camera, or in the space beside the door, or - if the locale under CCTV surveillance is on a corner - what is happening around the corner.
Than he goes away and they can't tell about those hidden recesses any more. No doubt they weep and gnash their teeth, although this has not been widely reported. I'd expect NB archives to yield hitherto suppressed reports, though.
I know they've got cheaper but I figured it was really fancy for what they were using it for. We've got use to years of seeing fuzzy video on Crimewatch and the like and being asked 'do you recognize this man ?', his own mother wouldn't recognize him from that !
That's a man????
I thought the pussy was clue otherwise.....
I'll get me coat now.....
I'm marketing a new T-shirt. See if you like the idea
'Bin There, Dumped Cat'
I'll take your coat after you've got home
Lovely idea but may have limited shelf life (not 9) - could be worked into a great headline for a ticker.
As someone from the parish in which this story originates, I can say hand on heart that the validity of this story has caused some debate in our newsroom.
The idea of having CCTV to monitor your car when it can's pick up the driver's side is strange to say the least.
The thing that gives the game away is the look the woman gives the camera before she drops the cat in the bin.
It's almost as if she's saying 'here we go, just like we agreed; we'll split the profits 50-50'.
