In a move that delighted scientists around the world, Dr. Buzzard M. Lightyear III of Pixar Corp was today awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.
The citation reads:
'The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Prize for Physics 2010 is to be awarded to Dr. Lightyear for his outstanding achievement in Quantum physics and Mathematics. The Committee has attached special importance to his ingeniously simple hypothesis 'To infinity and beyond', in which he has overturned conventional quantum and maths theory and imparted a new world vision and hope to mankind, immortality and whatever 'stuff' lies beyond.
It is a ground-breaking paradigm; that there is something longer than Sisyphean infinity. With this giant leap, he has boldly gone beyond contemporary quantum theory of 'strings', as he clearly doesn't need any. His work will go on forever and a day, and possibly a day after that.'
Accepting his prize, Dr. Lightyear 15, issued a brief statement, 'I feel humbled. My eternal and a bit further thanks go to my Dad, the evil Emperor Zurg, without whom I wouldn't be here. I've simply been standing on the shoulders of giants like Aristotle, Newton, Einstein and Mr. Potato-Head."
The NobelPrize winner is due to deliver his Nobel Lecture in Stockholm in October, batteries permitting.
