Scotland Yard has today cast all protocols to one-side and have admitted defeat in the 20+ year investigation into the notorious 'railway sleeper' mystery. They have finally agreed to draft in the BBC's crack team of detectives New Tricks, who specialise in unsolved cases.
James Bolam and Dennis Waterman are said to be delighted with the development, although they understand that the invesigation will be led by Amanda Redman just to keep up with the Met's PC image.
James said "It is amazing to think that for years all these bodies were just assumed to be railway sleepers, it wasn't until an eagle eyed track inspector had a closer look that the chilling truth was finally revealed."
Dennis Waterman said "Initially for such a complex case we pushed for a Xmas Special Edition to give us more than the usual 60mins, but they would budge so we will just have to crack on an crack the case in the usual 60mins like!"
