In a statement today the FA announced the loosening of limits on sponsorship deals .
The plan involves making the size of shirts twenty per cent larger by the start of the 2011/12 season to allow more area for the display of sponsors . The twenty per cent increase in size was agreed at a meeting of representatives of all premiership clubs , the increase was only vetoed by the Manchester Untied representative who was looking to double the size of their club's shirts . "We are sponsored by an increasing line of banks and insurence companies run by dubious people or governments so we have a large turn over as they go out of business or are arrested by the police or put in front of a firing squad . We feel twenty per cent is not enough to guarantee money flow ,"explained a Man U representative .
Referees will not be left out as the FA will sell advertising space on the yellow and red cards that they produce . Early interest has been shown by "specsavers" and " clearblue ," pregnancy tests . Critics say that this will encouage referees to produce more cards than is neccesary within the ninty minutes , but others say since when have they needed a reason to bring out more cards .
A further plan to cover the field of play with advert was dismissed as it was realised that so many players in the premierships spend their game time rolling around on the ground . "The advertisor may object to paying so much money for their product being advertised only to have it obscured by say, just pulling a name out of thin air ...droba ,"said an FA Spokesman .
